Level 3 Communications provides Internet access for GlobalTel customers

15-year agreement worth one million Euros

Colocation, dark fiber and Internet access

Frankfurt/Main, April 4, 2002 – Level 3 Communications and the Czech telecommunications company GlobalTel a.s. have signed a 15-year, one million Euro, agreement for the supply of colocation space, dark fiber and network access.

The contract will provide GlobalTel's customers with quick and reliable access to the Internet via the expandable, international IP-network of Level 3.

GlobalTel a.s. will offer its services to customers in the Czech Republic as well as to international customers via the Level 3 network. The main point of access is Prague, however, customers will also be able to access the network through other economic centers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In most cases companies located in those centers will meet their high bandwidth needs with Ethernet technology.

"After we had completed our national network infrastructure in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, gaining access to the international network was the next logical step. With Level 3 we have selected one of the most important vendors in the telecommunications industry. What tipped the scales in the company's favor were the concentration on the IP-protocol and the presence of Level 3 in Germany," explains David Vaverka, Chief Operation Officer von GlobalTel a.s.

"We are pleased to be working with one of the new successful carriers in the Eastern European countries. Together with GlobalTel a.s. we can now introduce our services in this market to the company and its customers," says Uwe Nickl, Level 3's Managing Director Germany.
