About (3)Center Colocation
Level 3 offers its (3)Center Colocation services through its advanced data centers, called Gateways. Level 3's Gateways are connected to the company's international Internet Protocol-based network. Gateways serve as portals to the network and provide a secure environment in which IP intensive companies can physically locate their equipment. The facilities also house Level 3's own equipment and offer customers interconnection with the public Internet and other long distance networks. Level 3 currently operates Gateways in 52 markets in the United States, Europe and Asia. The company has more than 5.5 million square feet of data center space around the world, and pre-funded the acquisition and construction of another 1.0 million square feet.
About (3)CrossRoads
Level 3 offers Internet access through its (3)CrossRoads service, which features Destination Sensitive Billing (DSB), the industry's first pricing based on the destination of Internet traffic, rather than traditional flat rate pricing. (3)CrossRoads enables Level 3 customers to enjoy long-term cost savings and bypass congested Internet exchange points, minimizing latency and improving end-user experience. Level 3 is the first company in Asia to offer these kinds of IP services on a global basis via its global IP network. Level 3 established its Asian headquarters in Hong Kong in May last year and has since made substantial progress in bringing its Internet-enabling business strategy to the region's IP-intensive companies. Level 3 was awarded the first cable-based EFTNS license in July this year and its broadband submarine cable linking Hong Kong and Tokyo will become operational in the second quarter of 2001.
3)Center Colocation and (3)CrossRoads are registered service marks of Level 3 Communications, Inc. in the United States and/or other countries.
