BROOMFIELD, Colo., November 15, 2000 – Level 3 Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:LVLT) today announced the Level(3)Enabled Global Partner Program, a new marketing initiative that is designed to expand the company's global sales channels.
Encompassing both existing Level 3 customers and potential customers, the new program will further extend the company's low cost bandwidth services to Internet and communication companies in the U.S., Europe and Asia through cross-marketing efforts. "The global partner program is significant for Level 3 in terms of expanding our global footprint and developing new revenue channels," said Melodie Reagan, senior vice president of Global Marketing Operations and Development for Level 3. "This program is a good example of how Internet Protocol (IP) intensive companies can work closely together to provide the best level of service to end-users. Additionally, it gives Level 3 an important global marketing channel that will drive additional traffic onto our network."
The Level(3)Enabled Global Partner Program, which is being officially introduced at today's Level 3 Global Partner Forum event in Colorado, is intended to serve as a networking and sales development resource for Level 3 and other Internet and communication companies. Additionally, the program provides partner companies with training, co-marketing and co-branding information.
There are more than 20 companies already approved to participate in the Level(3)Enabled Global Partner Program and Level 3 expects another 15 companies to be approved by year-end. "We view Level 3's global partner program as a great opportunity to extend our sales channels in the U.S., Europe and Asia, as well as offer our customers enhanced Internet infrastructure services supported by Level 3's fiber optic backbone," said Douglas Yokoyama, worldwide vice president of Sales and Marketing for @Network, a pan-Asian integrated Internet infrastructure services provider. The Level(3)Enabled Global Partner Program is available to Internet and communication companies in the U.S., Europe and Asia. The program features three segments: Integrated Partners, Solution Providers and Independent Sales Organizations.
Integrated Partners are Level 3 customers that agree to a monthly recurring revenue commitment. These companies must have the ability to sell to and support end-users, as well as add value to the Level 3 products they package and resell.
Solution Providers may or may not be Level 3 customers. These companies offer services or products that are complementary to those offered by Level 3 or its Integrated Partners.
