
LEVEL 3 ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF STEVE LIDDELL AS PRESIDENT FOR ASIA
London – May 20, 1999 – Level 3 Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: LVLT) today announced the appointment of Steve Liddell as President for Asia. Liddell will report to Colin Williams, president of Level 3 International, and will have the responsibility for overseeing all operations in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to joining Level 3, Liddell held senior management positions with several major international telecoms carriers. Most recently, he was president for the Asia Pacific region with MCIWorldcom, where he was responsible for developing MCIWorldcom's operations in the region since its launch in 1996. Before this at MFS International, Liddell was responsible for launching the company's first facilities-based international end-to-end services. Liddell also held a variety of management positions with BT in the UK and USA. Liddell will be based at Level 3's regional headquarters in Hong Kong. The company expects to be providing services in three Asian cities by the second half of 2000.
